Dark Sky Places for Better Human Well-Being

What if we really took seriously the evidence on how light pollution harms human well-being? Because we know it harms human health by disrupting our circadian rhythms, messing with our melatonin levels and generally contributing to sleep disorders. We could unlock the combination of next generation technologies, dynamic regulation and multi-parry contracts to create ‘dark sky zones’ in our cities, restricting light pollution alongside other pollution control mechanisms.

Example

Dark Sky Communities (Global)

A town, city, municipality or other legally organised community that has shown exceptional dedication to the preservation of the night sky through the implementation and enforcement of a quality outdoor lighting ordinance, dark sky education and citizen support of dark skies.
